I would have thought that a song about lonely people would be slow and lethargic sounding. But, Eleanor Rigby has such a manic, sit-up-and-pay-attention, hard-driving sound. The incongruity messes with my brain. Don't get me wrong though; I adore the song.
(I'll put this on the BB forum when it is back.)

Maybe the fast pace notice me thing is because people shouldn't just walk on by when a person is all alone and should help them.
Kinda like how Help! is such a loud rocker song.

There is an urgency to it.

There's a grandness in the song. Right from the get go, everything sounds big. Maybe trying to represent the sheer magnitude of lonely people there are out there.
